Ghosts of Yesterday

Contributed by Solnubis on Monday, 26th July 2004 @ 01:07:28 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

How can I deal with the ghosts of yesterday?
They constantly appear when I least expect it.
It reminds me of the days lost, and tomorrows that have not come.
My ghosts are the pains in the past that I have not been able to face.
I have hidden from them, not foolishly realizing that a ghost
can go through the walls of ones heart.
I have run away with such great fears of facing the unknown.
And it has come to the point of realizing that you can’t run from
those ghosts of long ago. They will follow you through the end of time.
You will walk on this earth with no purpose and no hope.
You will not know who you are or what you would like to become.
You will not be able to know love because you can not feel it
if you don’t recognize it for what it is.
The ghosts of the past will not let you be until you face the demons within.
Then and only then will you know who you are and will be able to love thyself.

Excellent points all. These ghosts do follow us around. Writing about them seems to help get them out of our systems, doesn't it?
