  Social

coulda, woulda, shoulda

Contributed by rhymeandreason on Friday, 23rd July 2004 @ 01:49:25 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

In my life i've told a lie or two.
Hell! that's a lie. I've told a few.
Most were minor wrongs denied.
To save face I lied.

Oh yes, there were a few,
hugely wrong, and craven too,
as shameful as they come.
That lessened my souls sum.

That warped the whole of, who I am,
that gripped my soul sure that God would damn,
or, if possible something much, much worse.
So wrong, you think yourself accursed.

From that thought, it's not far,
to that place, where you are,
for belief makes it so.
When that happens you know,
it makes emminent sense.
Gods just recompense
is your fate, curse, or lot.
That with lies coin you have bought.

So you set about eliminating
better options undeserved.
You set hope ablaze, incinerating,
any dreams left you reserved.
as future possibility.
You now believe will never be.

As the coulda, woulda, shoulda,
convinces you that nothing gooda
oughta, or is gonna call your name.
Assigns to you all of the blame.

Then at some point you realize,
despite mistakes, you loath the lies,
because you have a real remorse.
Your drawn to truth by its inate force.
That knows your lies
and knows your shame.
Yet bids your spirits rise.
To make the truth your aim.
Now with redemptive spark.
You set out to hit that mark.

Now that your aim is True.
That is what you do.
If once again,
you can "believe" something true.
it will eventually becomes so.
within you.
