NINE HUNDRED LIVES LOST AND WE KNOW WHO'S TO BLAME

Contributed by steeleyes on Thursday, 22nd July 2004 @ 09:33:58 AM in AEST
Topic: political

900 American deaths
that was yesterday’s toll
and for what
an inept leaders goal?

900 young lives lost
900 gone for good
and the facts they sold us?
They fell right where they stood

There WAS no current threat
No terrorist alarm
Just a country in despair
Alone and unarmed

The inspectors were there
We could’ve sent a thousand more
No need for all the bloodshed
No need for all that gore

Now 900 are dead
Each a decent American kid
Why are they dead and gone?
All for the need to rid

Bush of his hawkish lust
And the others who stood behind
900 graves newly filled
Bush fought to make us blind

How many times did he lie
to take us all to war?
Oh yes they are STILL lying
With NEW reasons of what it’s for

But who’ll tell the families
Who’ll never be the same?
That all those facts were WRONG
And they know just WHO to blame

There is so much that can be said about your poem, about the current questionable issues and politics but i think i'll leave it at Well Said. Way to send a message and people are listening.

And if Bush did nothing and more than 900 lives were lost through inaction, you'd call him inept on that basis, as well. Though perhaps overly simplistic, an interesting and passionate effort. Thank you. -KAC-
