My hands traced yours,
slowly familiarizing each bump,
each scar, each absolute imperfection,
memorizing what age shall erase.
The music plays, each sweet lullaby
punctuates a memory that is forgotten,
dreams that are undreamed,
stars that are falling.
Final words never seemed so hard to say.
Reality is like a shadow,
it looms and hugs me like a lost lover,
tearing words from me that have been frozen,
each soft sound keeps me sane.
and in the fire you burn,
leaving me in this colourless world,
breaking me with your last breath,
shaking in the words, "I love you."

Shadows are what sometimes this walk seems to be, we close our eyes and dream of what we want to see...then the light of the shadow crosses out path and we listen to the wind.
Beautiful poem, thank you for sharing. |
