“That First Yellow Rose”
The loss of a child, the hurt, the pain
The desire to hold them, in those that remain.
Moms’ fear of life, every child she sees
Belief in God, time spent on her knees.
Wondering always, does anyone care?
Who cares for them now when I should be there?
In reflections of others, my child I see
But alas I realize their mommy’s not me.
I see them at times as they play in the breeze,
The laughter, the crying and scrapes on their knees.
The growing up years, that first love,
The first broken heart, and what should be done.
But realizing now it cannot be changed
My faith in life, love, and kindness the same.
As I picture my baby in Gods loving arms
Its then that I know, there should be no alarm.
For it’s now that I know my child’s in God’s hands
As he tells them how much that there Mommy loves them.
As we cross in to heaven, fields of flowers that grow,
Mommy’s baby will hand her “that first yellow rose.”

I can't even begin to fathom the pain of losing a child...this touched me very deeply. Very beautifully composed.
