The angel descinded

The angel descended,
Coal black wings with crimson edges
Spreading across the horizon
As the sun hid its face from God.
Nightfall came to me as a friend,
With eyes of soul and smile of heart,
Hands open helping me up.
The red and tan husky with the gentle eyes
Lays his head on my arm,
Shares my pain.
Tells me I’m not alone.
Trees by my window
Make hand puppet portraits,
Painting memories in an abstract
Black and white dance.
Memories of my love.
She waits for me, calls to me.
Pulls back the veil as I close my eyes.
I must go now.
The angel awaits, my dog sleeps,
And the shadows take their bows.
