Where Your Nails Drove Into Me

Grief
|
You crucified me
and left me lying there in the grass,
where I could not move
and no one would save me.
As I lay there I remembered
what I had done to you,
that could not be removed
and you could not forgive.
The icy stare that pleaded for vengeance
haunts me,
I wish you would put your fingers in the palms of my hands,
my sides,
and my feet
where your nails drove into me.
I am real,
and though I cannot give you vengeance
or rise again,
I forgive you, for you know not what you do.
