Walking in NYC

Contributed by Schnikes13 on Monday, 19th July 2004 @ 07:01:28 PM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

(Ole Blue Eyes-Frank Sinatra)
(Billy-Billy Joel)

Put on black suede shoes and I
Boarded the next plane
Touched down in the JFK
In the midst of the pouring rain
Lord Christ Jesus,
Won’t you look on over me?
Sure, I got a pretty good life…
But I’m as sad as a girl could be.

When I’m walking in NYC
I was walking with my head towards the sky
Walking in NYC
Why do I feel the way I feel; why?

Saw the shadow of ole’ Blue Eyes
Stretched across the heart of Broadway
Followed his words of wisdom
Then I watched him fly away
Now, no one at home gets it
They just say it’s a song
But how can it not mean a thing,
When it’s the chosen song to sing
By Frankie all along?

When I’m walking in NYC
I was walking with my head towards the sky
Walking in NYC
Why do I feel the way I feel; why?

Now they’ve got so many places
That hold it’s mystique in the air,
I asked Mr. Giuliani if he thought it’d last,
He said “I can only ask in prayer!”

But man, no need for prayer in NYC

Now Billy plays piano
Whenever he can or should
And they brought me down to meet him
And he asked me if I would
Play a little number
And give it all my might.
He asked, “Young lady, are you a Christian?”
I smiled, “Yes, Sir; it’s only right."

When I’m walking in NYC
I was walking with my head towards the sky
Walking in NYC
Why do I feel the way I feel; why?

When I’m walking in NYC
I was walking with my head towards the sky
Walking in NYC
Why do I feel the way I feel; why?

Put on black suede shoes and I
Boarded the next plane
Touched down in the JFK
In the midst of the pouring rain
Touched down in the JFK
In the midst of the pouring rain…

(Based on the song "Walking in Memphis")

This should've been posted under the song category. It rolls off the tongue like one. NYC certainly does have something magical about it, doesn't it?
I love the Frankie reference too, as I'm a fan. Nice job with this light-hearted piece. Hope you had a good trip!
