While the skies submit

Contributed by Tanmaya on Monday, 19th July 2004 @ 06:44:22 AM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

While the skies submit
to the ancient red of the twilight,
hear my broken words.
When the wide wings of the
trees try to fly again…
hear me in my sleep.
Isn’t there a world unknown
to the world, where
the fairies sing of crystal-tears
and the lonely petals
blown by the winds dream.
Isn’t there a road to the
land of magic…
hidden somewhere beyond
what the eye sees,
hidden somewhere in the
hunger of the stars.

While the flags
of the mist unfurl,
while the night is still
confused and the dawn
is still wandering far…
find me a new smile.
Isn’t there sweet laughter
that only the quietness
can teach.
Isn’t there a lost season
that the nightingales sing about,
that the shadows stretch
under the rocks and look for…
hidden somewhere beyond
the far horizon,
hidden somewhere in the
heart of together.

Its not often I use 'beautiful' to describe a poem submitted here, but with these lines;

"the fairies sing of crystal-tears
and the lonely petals
blown by the winds dream."

Free verses of finery. I look forward to reading more from you . . .

and welcome to YPDC.

You capture the yearning of most poets and readers of poetry, dreams of peace and understanding or the escape from the mundane realities of life. Keep writing and dreaming.

Wow! This is incredible. I love the imagery, and the mythic, ancient style.

Isn’t there a lost season
that the nightingales sing about,

Truly wonderful. This feels straight out of Tolkien. Bravo! I'll be waiting for more.

Andrew

This is amazing...
So very beautiful and it actually bought tears to my eyes,
thought im not quite sure why.
Maybe because i wish for this world to be real.
This is stunning. One of the best poems i have ever read.
Amazing...

What a lovely first post, Tanmaya --- it reads as partly melancholy and partly hopeful, but mostly as a poet's dreaming... I am intrigued by the piece and I very much enjoyed some of the descriptive phrases that you embedded in this.

Welcome to YPDC - I'm looking forward to reading more of your work,
SNM
