Heart of a Warrior

Contributed by drummerchic18 on Saturday, 17th July 2004 @ 11:09:55 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

My world seems to crash and fade away in the mists of the rush of a lifetime. I come to a place where my heart and my soul match no more. Where I decide who I am and who I will become. The clock doesn’t seem to stop like it use to. The frozen moments seem to rush by like fierce cold water right through my body, capturing me and thrashing me along the strong tides. Struggling not to let my bodily limps tear against any rough obstacle while the intense waves carry me out into the distance, far from anything familiar. I remember that courage is not the absence of fear, but the knowing that something is more important than fear. So I take it on, I fight against it, struggle to survive. I battle against the rage of the water to keep my head in the air.

The wind becomes strong and the waves too great for my strength. My head submerges into the violent waters, my body being twisted about the under-tide. My flesh feels as if it being ripped apart, skin being torn and bones being cracked and nothing I can do to prevent it, for the current is too strong for me alone. The current of people and ideas and the pushing and pulling of this world is too strong for me to combat alone.

The cries of a scared little girl are in the heart of a warrior, yet how can this be? That the seemingly strong are weak? That the ones with dreams are too afraid and too worried to thrust themselves into the water and race with it? What are they afraid of? What am I afraid of? For I am dreamer of dreams; a child inside a warrior. What is there to fear? The uncertainty of the unknown? Yet that is an adventure! I tell you it is nothing to fear! Then why is there a child inside the armor of a warrior? Where did the warrior go? Was it a child all along? Most certainly not! For it is the heart of the warrior crawling out of the armor. The child deep inside is finally able to breathe, yet without the warrior’s consent. But if the warrior did not allowed the child to breathe, why is it out and about? Is the warrior tired of being strong? Can you not see that the mighty warrior has no one to lift him up? He is fighting alone and the child escaped his grasp. He is the last one to breathe. Everyone else has left the scene. The warrior is tired and weak. The child sits upon the ground, playing with grass and looking up at the helment of the mighty soldier. With tears falling the child climbs back into the warriors arms... For this is the heart of a warrior.
