Friendship part 2

Contributed by Archie on Thursday, 15th July 2004 @ 08:03:13 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

The stores are bought onboard the ship
Food clothing extra sails and weaponry
in preparation for a very long trip.
The mooring lines are undone
and she is turned out to the sea
amidst the cheering crowds
and acclamate screams
Theres mutiny aboard
within the column of a storm
they can't quite seem to work together
complaining and not helping
often times forgetting
how long a trip for them is now in store
The storm seas keep getting rougher
as brother turns against brother
The mast falls in the ocean with a crash
Tossed in the turrets of tempests
before the crew can lament this
events turn for the worst within a flash
The sky is dark just like a cave
they scurry to try to stave
off desaster but it's too late
before the words can be finished
of the stark refutation
the ship is buried in the water like a grave.
And the few that survive
to mourn the loss of their pride
and their friends who will never make it to that port
grip in fear to survive
a terrible demise
albeit they are food for hungry sharks

On a dessert isle
a man relives his tale
saying it over and over to himself
To keep his sanity
about this tradgedy
his only audience now is himself

Wow Archie! Well done! I did a "Revenge of the Sea" poem. The sea is an easy target for our tidal flow of emotions. This is very well done, with great imagery and a very thought provoking story! Great job!
Angel always...joni

Great story! It tells us something to be heeded, and at the same time compells interest of its own. Nice work.
