I watch with quiet sorrow
As your smile fades away
You don't seem to see tomorrow
Is always a brand new day
A clean slate, something new
There's no reason to feel so blue
[ Chorus ]
Chin up, my baby, please smile for me
Chin up, my baby, please can't you see?
Surrounded by those who love you so
Please understand it's not your time to go
Put down that shiny kitchen knife
And take a look around
Would you rather end this life
And end up underground
In a place so dark and all alone
Where flesh withers to reveal bone?
[ Chorus ]
Chin up, my baby, please smile for me
Chin up, my baby, please can't you see?
Surrounded by those who love you so
Please understand it's not your time to go
I watch with quiet sorrow
As your smile fades away
You don't seem to laugh anymore
Assaulted by feelings you just can't ignore
[ Chorus ]
Chin up, my baby, please smile for me
Chin up, my baby, please can't you see?
Surrounded by those who love you so
Please understand it's not your time to go
I need you so much, my baby, my dear
More than you need me, I fear
Promise me you won't make this mistake
Without you I fear my heart will break
[ Chorus ]
Chin up, my baby, please smile for me
Chin up, my baby, please can't you see?
Surrounded by those who love you so
Please understand it's not your time to go
I watch with quiet sorrow
As your smile fades away
You don't seem to see tomorrow
Is always a brand new day
A clean slate, something new
There's no reason to feel so blue
