Paper Hearts and Plastic Smiles

Contributed by frozenfire on Thursday, 15th July 2004 @ 04:46:10 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

This could be the saddest dawn I've ever known
I want to vanish in the fog
Trying to hide behind a love long gone away
Surrounded by this empty truth that never fades
I am swimming within a shallow sea of depth--
--Filled with hollow thoughts of you
I cannot escape myself

Paper hearts and plastic smiles
Are all that I have left to see
Paper hearts and plastic smiles
All that remains of you and me
Lonely hearts all waste away
All laughter must disinigrate--
--Until the truth remains

Emptiness prevails nothing,
My soul has gone to rest
Consumed by reality I have never known--
--Until I saw your face
Drowning within shallow tears
I cannot escape
The only real thing left to feel within this emptiness---
---Is pain

So take my heart and break it
I'll take your smile and fake it
I cannot die--
--I cannot die again

Take my heart and break it
I'll take your smile and fake it
You're half a world--
--You're half a world away

This poem moved me. How is it that such sad feelings turn into something so beautiful. Still a mystery to me...

Really sad. It is almost like you are still in love and can't let go.

MOving lyric. I am under the impression that this is about some photographs of yours, because of the title . . .

Intuitive and affective.

Thanks for sharing, and welcome to YPDC, frozenfire.
