Calm Before the Storm

I walked away quietly,
silently wept as you begged me
"Girl don't go".-
Did what I had to do,
At least that excuse worked for awhile.
Got me through the sleepless nights
when I would lay awake,
And think of all those things I wanted to see,
that from afar looked so beautiful in my mind's eye-
All the things I just had to do with my life,
that you could not be a part of.
My attempt at maturity has left me sullen and weak,
my heart broken far beyond repair,
and my soul, a raging sea of regret-
And even knowing this now,
I still do nothing, but dream of the day
when my heart clears these steal bars,
and tells my head to go to hell-
For the sake of love.

oh juliette.....a great poem i must say...very sad in a way but very uplifting in the fact that you are able to express your self and be able to talk about it...that in its self is a form of healing....thanks for sharing this poem.....
