let days go past waiting for postmarked stories of times we missed all those smiling faces and adolescent tears remember the days we'd tell o ur fears in a daze never lie with a little honesty in our stomachs and big dreams on our lips castles in the sky dreams or an anti-reality based story to tell our offspring never sure what it all meant had high ambitions and light -headed desires writing books of childhood fantasies those forgotten tragedies with our hearts in our throats we sit an d we wait to see the prize at the end of this chapter

It sounds to me as if you are ever the optimist having hopes in all your dreams,anticipating the outcome.Tainted by the "forgotten tragedies" hence, tainted optimist?
