I weep for what might have been
Had I not been formed by chance
There are never tears enough
To sweep away the pain
I prowl under this vast, angry sky
And draw scant comfort
From the cold, pelting rain
I feel trapped by a recurring past
And ravaged by life's harsh laws
My soul cries out for some surcease
From my multitudinous character flaws
I'm forever condemned
To move through life
Like one of nature's great solitaries
Damned by hap and circumstance
To taste of life
Through chance encounters
So precious, so scarce, and so vicarious!.
