She spent the next lifetime
trying to explain.
He had asked for it, picked
her right off the tree.
Let me see it, he said,
and then bit in, only
she was the one left
bleeding. It is this way
in any garden,
any eventual paradise
tainted by the leaving and lies
we tell ourselves to move on.
The serpent never was
such a big deal. It was
hunger she answered.

A classic told in the first garden and repeated over and over on earth. Finding so much in your few words. Very impressive.
