From where I am,
I can’t quite see the President,
But I’m sure he looks smart,
Smiles without fear,
Just wish he could see me here.
From where I am,
I can’t quite hear the President,
But know the words are calming,
The crowd hang on every noun,
Just wish they could see me frown.
From where I am,
I can’t quite smell the President,
But fresh roses surely the odour,
All singing the same song,
Just wish I could sing along.
From where I am,
I can’t quite touch the President,
But he’d be willing to meet a soldier,
If only I could give him a wave,
Just wish I wasn't in this grave.
