Eighty two thousand three hundred and four
Reasons exist and perhaps even more
For him to draw within
And lock the door
But it seems, it took precisely thirty eight
Less than she thought, she discovered late
For him to bravely
Open the gate
She guesses, six thousand five hundred or so
Others were offered a chance to know
For he shared it then
And perfectly so
It took her another hundred and thirty four
To find her way o’er to the door
For he had to give her
A few hints more
The counting then, comes down to just one
His story, it seems, is not yet done
For she imagines that he
Has just begun
*******
He's still counting years, not reasons why
She glimpses beyond the door and softly sighs
And numbers appear seemingly out of the air
Only he will understand - if he should care
To peek out from within his darkened room
And recognize himself as the one for whom
She has been counting and writing this tale
When yet another mystery he then unveils
*******

Wow! I like the thoughtful, cryptic style of this. And at the same time infused with your characteristic yearning and emotion. Very enjoyable. Bravo!

Intriguing style here, SNM. Cryptic yes, but very rather intoxicating at the same time.

Interesting read indeed. I like the different style you have attached to it, certainly very cryptic. Good read.

How wonderfully and so eloquently you have intertwined mathematics into beautiful poetic verse. This is truly an amazing and wonderful dedication. And what a brilliant idea! ! ! The title...everything about it. :-)
*loves this and wants to read it a few more times*
*and applauding*
Timber
(who by coincidence, I guess, had an idea of starting a poem out similar to this line "Eighty two thousand three hundred and four" but couldn't get any further)
(also wishing I could have done that!!!!!)
