My thoughts drift back to that July
when we sat upon green blades beneath a velvet sky
and a vacant pool nearly caught our skin
as exhileration stirred within
As we drank away each warm night
a loss was descending that I could not fight
and before I knew what had gone wrong
I turned around and you were gone
Now we've been given a second chance
but it's hard to find some peace of mind
because far away from here
lies the beginning and end of our time
and left with those warm summer breezes
is the reminder of a lost love and a friend
