TIME STOOD STILL

Days of Rain and clouds of gray,
Are long and slow with ripe decay.
Clocks do tick and seconds fly by,
Time stands still and heaves a sigh.
A minute rolls and an hour gives,
A day is born and a week is lived.
A fortnight’s collected ~ A month is rallied,
Before to long a year is tallied.
A year by one and then by two,
A decades passed ~ A quarter through.
A half century here ~ A half century there,
In the blink of an eye a millenium fared.
It all happened on a cloudy day,
The sun didn’t shine and the wind didn’t play.
Although, it seems that time stood still,
It never has and it never will...
