The Boy

Contributed by sad_girl_twenty on Saturday, 10th July 2004 @ 10:01:45 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

alone in a corner
the child sits
tears roll down his face
waiting for his mother to return
and feel her loving kiss
awoken to an empty house
to watch to shadows grow
kids are playing in the street
without the boy they’ll never know.
A sound outside the window
Jumps his heart with joy
He runs as fast as his legs will go
To find a cat knocked over a toy
“I know she’s coming back” he says
“she would never leave”
but the longer he waits
the more hungry he gets
and he finally begins to believe
so he sits back in his corner
and stares back at the door
lay his hungry body down and says
“I will see her never more”
