Masquerades of Apathy

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Friday, 9th July 2004 @ 10:32:40 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I look behind
And choke on the dust of all my days
They're all a waste
I watch the memories go up in flames
I cannot breathe
When the stars are falling all around me
I see your face
In the ethereal light of dreams

You call to me
With words so unconstrued
You come to me
And my soul comes unglued
But I won't fall to pieces over you
There's so much more I'd rather say and do
Yet I fail to find a reason to
As the wind whistles softly hereto

I can't break free
Of the shadows that keep me from you
Bound to this place
A thousand words, but nothing's coming through
Then I feel you
In the stars and I whisper your name
Hoping you hear me
And desperately praying you feel the same

I call to you
But my words are confused
I run to you
My heart bloodied and bruised
And I've gotten nowhere 'cause you're not here
Nothing to be seen but dreams so unclear
I'm sick of all this masquerading
But I'm so afraid of this heart breaking

Say hello
You don't have to do everything right
And there's still time
To find the strength to learn to fly so high
Would you tell me
If you thought I was crazy to want this
Even for awhile
Or crazier to let it be dismissed?

I face the fear
You smile and let it go
I wonder if
You'll ever let me know
For now I'll just swim in your apathy
Not moving, watching you so quietly
'Cause I don't wanna talk about it
Close your eyes, my dear, and just exist

Great job. I thought this was lovely and quietly honest.

It was beautiful the first time I saw it and still is.
Hopeful... I loved it...
"If you could learn to hope, maybe I could learn to love."
This one was very much so brighter than the last two.
:)

Wow Dee.
I tell you one thing. I a a serious fan of your poems now,
Your writes are among the best i have read.
This, again is beautiful, and so much desperation too.
(hmm...not sure if that is the right word. lol)
Really though. This is an amazing poem,
and definatly one of my favourites.
*hugs* Phil xxx

That last line blew me away. This is a beautiful piece of emotion. Your muse has been working overtime lately and doing an enormous job. Your talent is shining brightly.
