BETRAYED

Topic: StoryPoetry

The choice was made for you to die,
Was handed down from not up high,
From family came this heartless deed,
Not by blood ~ Not by seed,
Yet a member that you did trust,
You were betrayed for dust-to-dust,
Your family doctor ~ Your family friend,
Had his hand in your life’s end,
He smiled as he spoke with you,
Trusting him was easy to do,
He had your best interest at heart,
In your death he played a part,
Both men knew you believed in them,
Both men knew your life would end,
If they took you from your home,
You’d be lost ~ You’d be alone,
Both men knew and neither cared,
About your life or how you fared,
They stuck you in a beautiful place,
Where you didn’t know a single face,
Where you were just one-of-many,
Time-just-for-you ~ There wasn’t any,
A beautiful building with winding halls,
Not many friends came to call,
Day-by-day and night-by-night,
You made a choice not to fight,
It was time for you to leave,
You had a family you wanted to see,
A husband, a daughter and a son,
Your life was lived ~ Your life was done.

Thank you for sharing that. It must have been difficult to write as the event would be a disturbing 5 weeks to watch. It's good though very discomforting to think that you witnessed that.

Sadly the elderly are farmed out because they are no longer useful and require too much time. I could never do that to my parent, no matter what. I am caring for my mom now and would never farm her out. When they are separated from their life as they know it and estranged from their families they lose the will to live. That says a sad lot about our society.
