a short last, or new end without a start

Faster than swift runners strides was the time I spent.
Slower than the turning of leaves was my waiting to begin.
Where do things go now- where do they start or end?
Confused and baffled, what did God have in mind?
I figured I could avoid the expected pain, was I blind?
I can’t decide whether I want this all behind-
me
Do I wait and see?
Do I continue my own suffering, or not look back and flea?
Happiest were the times I spent
Where it was all of me and nothing else I sent
When a bond so strong could not be bent.
Those days are gone and these days are now.
Each day new, will I allow-
Continue my sorrow
Will there be a new tomorrow?
I don’t know how.
