Fading Smile

LoveRemembered

I saw your face in church today,
Something about you made me want to cry
Maybe it was the way you hung your head
Or how your smile faded when you waved goodbye.
Wish we could talk more, somehow
But it seems an impossible chance.
We were just suddenly blown back apart,
Despite all the things I still hide in my glance.
Your eyes make me smile, despite stored memories
And I wish I could still see into you.
Your eyes are so dark and sinfully graced
By the hair you thought you outgrew.
We don’t ever even look at each other,
Even though we never really could.
If I just had the chance to go back and change
There would be no should, no could, no would.
We will become so much more separated
That I’ll forget all I saw in your face
And all that we’ll be are more memories
Of all that I sought to never erase
Once more, I find myself thinking of you
And I wish we could somehow have been more.
But I still know this opportunity is lost
I just wish I knew what I lost you for.
