Finished [Denying Myself]

Contributed by bobotheclown on Thursday, 8th July 2004 @ 01:22:53 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Sorrowful I limp down this path hearing these
Distressed, dissonant cries proclaiming evident dismay
As weeping, chagrined souls pass before my eyes
I am slowly [painfully] raped and relieved of my sight

Now I weap bloodied tears, sightless and useless,
I heal so slowly only to find myself wounded again
Wings of sorrow purge my hardened heart
And I can only stare as I fail, fail, fail
And shake my head with despair as I fall, fall, fall

Gaunt and hungry I plead out of empty eye sockets
With the realization that even love cannot save me
As this rusty knife is plunged through me again, again, and again
Denying myself what is [perhaps] staring me right in the face
Out of simple trepidation of rejection and loss

I stumble along this lonely path alone and tormented
Denying myself the 'pleasures' of a 'normal' life
Aching I blindly curl into a fetal position
And smile as Death waves his scythe dripping with gore
[Die, die, die, death]

So vivid, so real. It's very open to interpretation, which is exactly what a poem needs when it's meant to be shared with others. Well done my friend.

Joel, this is very strong and emotional. I wish you would not deny the pleasures of life as they are the only reward we really get. I don't understand totally so I won't say more. I just wanted to let you know the depth of emotion here and the structure is great.

Wow! Powerful. It impressed itself vividly on my tired mind. Nice work, but very grief-filled.

Wow... Joel.
This was a really interesting write.
I don't know what to say about it.
I enjoyed it and it was very dark.
I hope everything is still good.

You have a master's ability when you lend your pen to the darkness. This is troubling, frightful, horrible and.......... a masterpiece.

Barkeeper, a drink for my friend

Very well done
