So playful, so carefree I once was,
Independent, intelligent, and witty,
Others accepted me, loved me,
I was never looked upon in pity,
Until that unruly prank was pulled,
Sustenance laced by a hidden poison,
By life itself plotting against me,
Losing strength, I was outdone
Then back into my parents care,
Dependant on their strength,
As they carried me like a child,
Pity and concern in their eyes

Yes, this is very true. I had a near fatal illness 8 years ago and my outlook on life changed completely. I was so caught up in my career I forgot the important things in life like family, friends, and basically the rest of life. I existed only for that office and the patients. Six months later when I could return to my career it did not seem to be important at all. My entire outlook had shifted and done a complete turnabout. Not that I liked it all, but it made a big difference in my life and I don't regret it now. Best of luck to you.
Hugs,
Rita |
