Those Four Words

Contributed by joker17 on Wednesday, 7th July 2004 @ 07:44:03 PM in AEST
Topic: SpecialOccassion

Still waiting for the perfect time
When everything is right
It has to be the perfect place
Those Four Words I can’t fight.

It’s all I think of all day long
I need to plan this out
So she will see it in my eyes
True love without a doubt.

So should I plan some quiet time
Alone for just us two?
Or dinner lit by candlelight
Then would she have a clue?

‘Cause I don’t want her to suspect
What I have not implied
I want it all to be so right
Those Four Words I can’t hide.

Maybe we should take a drive
To someplace far away
So nothing else can interrupt
The things I have to say.

Maybe take her somewhere new
Pretending it’s just that
And when she least expects a thing
I’ll take my last at bat.

I’ll whisper it into her ear
And swing with all my might
Then pray her answer clears the fence
Those Four Words said tonight.

And when the moment’s finally right
Before I’m on my knee
Everything must fall in place
For her to marry me.

A beautiful write. I have to say that my husband proposed to me with a poem and it melted my heart. We will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on the 19th of this month. She will love it.
