Lessons to Live By ( an Abecedarius)

Contributed by gentledove on Wednesday, 7th July 2004 @ 02:44:09 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Accept who you are, be true to yourself,
Beseeching others when you need help.
Consider the feelings others may harbour,
Deflating their spirit will cause disaster.
Eagerly look towards a new day dawning,
Fostering an attitude of hope and of caring.
Generous heart, giving of yourself,
Humbly speaking of oneself.
Illuminate your life with education,
Judging others is certain poison.
Kind in spirit you should be,
Laboring hard for your money.
Mature in your thoughts and in your deeds,
Noble of character so you can succeed.
Observant of nature and all her beauty,
Participate in life wholly.
Quarrelsome not and quick of temper,
Restrain yourself from all anger.
Sensitive to others needs,
Tenderhearted sews the seeds,
United we stand against the stampede.
Victorious living, Wavering not,
Xenophobia must be untaught.
Youthful living,
Zest for life,
These are some lessons That I have been taught.

A really good write. Some words could have been changed (ie. 'untaught' for 'unlearned', 'quarrelsome' for 'quarrel') but overall this is something I haven't seen before. I may consider doing something like this one day, and If I do, I'll use this as a template for the attempt.

Thanks for sharing this one.
