Into The Abyss

Contributed by pixie on Tuesday, 6th July 2004 @ 11:31:52 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I can feel myself slipping,
My once stable mind is tripping,
I thought I was stronger than this,
I don’t want to fall into the abyss.

Depressions like a bad penny,
It carries the power of many,
It hides around every bend,
When will this struggle end?

My life is the best it’s ever been,
At last my cupboard is now clean,
But depressions like my puppy dog,
Getting rid of it is such a hard slog.

I binned the tablets & the meds,
I’m determined to do it alone instead,
Things have been going so well,
Now I am being pulled back into hell.

Don’t get my wrong I don’t feel weak,
Just that I’m not sat on my peak,
I try as I may & I try as I might,
To keep my candle burning bright.

But my black cloud hangs over me,
Like a twisted, ugly old tree,
But I’m slipping down into the abyss,
Tasting depressions suffocating kiss.

Pixie, I wish that I could put into words the feelings that you do... No one who has not had depression can understand, how when everything is perfect, things can feel the worst. I know it can be hard, to just not feel quite there, use your words, they are part of you, and they will soothe your soul... Hold on tight, you are a lovely person.

My kindred spirit. I know this feeling all to well. Like dwelling in the banks of hell! But someday soon, we'll find the light. And our kind spirits will win the fight!
Nice write! 0:-)
Angel always...joni

They say depression works in cycles. So I learned mine, well I think.
Well you watch your self . learn your self, hell, by yourself or with a friend. I'm sure mark will help any time. Talk about it. don't get mad or feel he's judging you. It takes more than one to beat it. If you think I'm talking to hastely, I have this to say. He loves you/ you love him and the rest of ya'll lives. He's the one that need to be there. Ya'll are beautiful. God bless you.

As long as you are aware of it you should be able to control it. If your serotonin levels start dropping to low you may need some medical help for a while.
