The Princess and the Fairy

Contributed by Gentledove on Tuesday, 6th July 2004 @ 02:20:01 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

As I look through the eyes of my 4 year old neice,
My world expands, it's on the increase.
She say, Come on Auntie Gay, come upstairs to play,
I want to dance a ballet today.
She digs in her closet, picks out her attire,
A beautiful dress with sequins and sapphires.
We dance a ballet just Bailey and I,
We swirl and twirl, I try to be spry,
As we dance the dance of the firefly.
It's time to change and be a princess,
As Cinderella puts on her necklace.
Rubys, diamonds and glittering gold,
A sweet beautiful princess, a sight to behold.
The day is done, it's getting late,
Fairies and princesses, their beds await,
As up the stairs we must navigate.
I tell her I love her as I hug her tight,
Maybe tomorrow you could be Snow White.

Hi, I hope you don't mind if I print this out and put it in the folder I keep for my grandchildren. I print all the children's poems that are posted and the ones I write for them in a special folder. They like them better than the storybooks at bedtime. This is an excellent piece.

Such a lovely poem, Gentledove. It reminds me of the times I'll get to spend with my own neice . . .

Thoughtful, rhythmic and picturesque.

Thanks for sharing.
