Virtuoso

Contributed by LittleWillow on Monday, 5th July 2004 @ 06:17:06 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

it's a clear, starry night
the theater is packed
the atmosphere grows tighter as the crowd awaits his melodies
the house lights dim, and the spotlights turn on
excited whispers are broken by the sound of silence
the pianist walks casually on stage
the volume of the crowd breaks decibal barriers
he doesn't seem to notice the crowd as he goes to the bench
he pushes back the tails of his coat as he sits
specks of stardust twinkle in his eyes
he wrings his long fingers rapidly
he touches his fingers to the ivories, and immediately lifts them again
he turns his head slightly to the crowd and, with a smile, winks a starlit eye
the pianist turns back to his black Steinway and starts to play a concerto in C minor
his fingers caress the ebonies, and pound on the ivories
the limber fingers move at lightning speed
his tongue smoothes his lips as the song modulates
he strikes the last chord
applause fills the concert hall
the pianist stands up and takes his bow

Too cool. Love it.

Psst... I was originally attracted by the title, of which I have a poem by the same name. :)

Nicely done.

Thank you,

Tim

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
