I am empathy
Giving you another chance to breathe
I’m singing to you
Serenading with the song of a caged bird
I wish I didn’t know
How you never wanted me
You are the pain
Giving me the strength to curse; to spit
A passion you never knew just how to show me
I wish I didn’t know
How you didn’t want me
We are separation
An empty palace of lies stands between us
I will sing with steady emotion
As steady as the foundation on which you built your fraudulent palace
I wish I didn’t know
How you never wanted me
You never wanted me
But you pretended, please don’t deny it
Deep down we know, deep down in our robotic hearts
You never knew how to want me
How you wish you knew
Yet how you wish you didn’t know
How much I wanted you
As much as you didn’t want me
I’ll sing with an impassioned fiery anger
An unwanted trait you gave to me
I’ll sing for you, but only because
You never once sang for me
