it is spring
new days
i plucked yellow flower weeds
from my lawn
in a desire
for verdant uniformity
a deep
unbroken lush
i felt no guilt
they were only plants
no matter
how successful their little genomes
i was indifferent
to any plea
beyond
my green wish
and now pray
no day arrives
when vegetation
rules
at least
any with memory
and an ability
to act
if so
we re doomed
