beautiful bleeding?

though i don t know why
i think of my muse
as a close friend
a presence
behind me to my right
her hand resting on the chair back
watching me at play here
a slight figure really
with light long hair
wearing a pale sleeveless gown
whose shoulder straps slip down
when she leans back from looking in
her manner of pulling them up
has become familiar
but there have been other muses too
alluring and dangerous
sweet sirens
who urged me
to incise my heart
lure words into fleshy poems
that would break and haemorrhage
die here on the page
i ve long since given up on sirens
good friends and a benevolent muse
are more preferable
than beautiful bleeding and suicide
