Amaze Me

Contributed by waos on Sunday, 4th July 2004 @ 11:54:44 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Through the weary darkness,
the weighty, clinging shadow;
through this pain that tightly grips,
you've held me as these winds blow.
Though the waves crash upon me
on this lonely empty shore,
and the rain pelts me from above
you've been the warmth in this downpour.

Words cannot express this awe,
you amaze me; oh you amaze me.
And words cannot contain this love,
you amaze me; oh you amaze me.

When the sun hides behind those dark clouds,
when my eyes can't see the light,
when my hope is weak and my flesh is frail,
it's then Lord, that you rise up and fight.
As my enemies grasp my ankles,
attempting to drag me down;
Lord you prepare a place for me,
and on my head you place a crown.

Words cannot express this awe,
you amaze me; oh you amaze me.
And words cannot contain this love,
you amaze me; oh you amaze me.

Oh and as I hear the mocking voices cry
I know that you're here inside.
Oh and as my tears flow down my cheeks
I know you held me as I cried.
Lord even as the colors fade
in this world filled with agony,
Your love is ever solid
and you hold to me so tightly.

Words cannot express this awe,
you amaze me; oh you amaze me.
And words cannot contain this love,
you amaze me; oh you amaze me.
You amaze me; oh you amaze me.

Isn't it amazing what God will do for us when we simply allow Him to?
Beautiful piece.
