The countless times I’ve felt the burn
Would’ve all been worth it if you’d returned
Other girls just can’t replace
Your precious kiss, your lovely face
But I try to hide my pain from you
Afraid that you might learn the truth
But inside, I know its real
This love for you I still can feel
I still love you with all my heart
Too late now, too far apart
I miss you still, so very much
Longing for one simple touch
How I lost you, I don’t know
It was so hard for me to let you go
If I had just one more chance,
I’d hold you close, request one dance,
I’d keep you warm all through the night
Promise you’d always be treated right
But somehow I lost it all
Even now my tears still fall
Baby I just wish you knew
How much I’m still in love with you
But there’s nothing I can do
I feel so trapped, without you
My wings are clipped, I cannot fly
My river of hope is running dry
You’ll be gone forever in only weeks

Oh, Steven - This is beautiful!!!! Wonderfully, wonderfully written... so quietly sincere and heartbreakingly honest. This piece really touched me - I can completely relate... my recent submissions are very similar. *sigh*
