I’m so close to giving up on everything,
Yet you come to stand by my side.
Giving me that little bit of strength I need.
To stop me falling to my knees,
You catch me as I fall.
You’re my tall dark stranger in the mists of my mind.
You’re round unexpected corners.
Without you now I don’t think my life would be the same.
You give me the alternative that I dearly need.
My dear friend, thank you for lending your shoulder,
I would have cried on you if you were here.
Yet alas you are but a great distance away.
Though the best support you have given.
This I must thank you for.
If only I could have more friends like you.
But then you are my special guy.
