Dashed

Contributed by olivetreedove on Saturday, 3rd July 2004 @ 03:28:45 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

It was late,
It was dark,
Rain fell.

A night of happiness,
Both drink and drug-induced.

We sped on,
Unaware of what lied ahead.

A fallen tree branch
In front of us,
Blocking our way.

Blinded by headlights,
We swerved.

Immense pain,
Pain beyond all that could be known.

Hopes and dreams dashed
In a moment of recklessness.

In mere seconds,
A life, no,
More than just one life
Taken away.

Our familes live without us now,
All because of one careless decision.
