Twilight Renaissance

The melancholy evening beckons persistent
memories inside my heart as regularly as the
seasons change
their coat.
It isn't so much where I have been that's so
difficult to discern, even knowing there isn't
enough makeup to hide the sorrows written
in my eyes.
It's where I am going and how much baggage I
deem to fling across my shoulders
that counts now, as I stoop to bear its weight
before it's there.
The losses that define me creep into my life
as silently as the snowflakes melt into the
earth, reminiscing moments that sometimes
restrict me by my history past.
Looking for that dead-end road, a symbolic
reckoning of bygone madness, I follow myself
on this journey of empty steps and
borrowed time.
I still mourn as I grab the branches of my life,
but as distant whispers echo, I continue to
play out the rituals that fill my make
believe fantasies and
faraway dreams.

This is cool. I really like it. The wording, the honesty of it. There's nothing pretentious about it, even with all the kinda sorta big words, lol, which is hard to do. Awesome job. I'm impressed.

Give me a moment.... I'm still speechless...
I had to read it through twice, it was sooo good. I still can't completely work out my impressions on it, but I know I like it.
