Giving Up

Contributed by hooray_its_jen on Friday, 2nd July 2004 @ 05:36:08 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

There are no more arms
To run into anymore,
Nobody left to call
When I'm having a bad day.
Everything I need is gone now
And I have nothing left to lose.
I'm redefining who I am,
Because I am nothing without him.
My world has fallen,
So why can't I leave it behind?
I feel like giving up now
Because I have nothing left to live for.
Lord, take my life
Because I'm not brave enough
To take it myself.
This life is a waste of time.

The last four lines really hit me hard. I've been there before and often it is best to just write the feelings out. Be advised however it is braver to live and face the pain than to kill yourself.

Hey there.

Reading this poem really reminded me of a situation I went through awhile back, and my opinion of life then seems to be the way you think of it now. Things'll get better, though; once a person has hit bottum, the only way to go is up, and the most wonderful feeling in the world is when you finally reach the light at the end of the tunnel. So hang in there and don't give up.

I do truly understand how you feel, sweetheart. You are hurt, lost and feel alone. He would not want you to have these feelings and you are right, they will pass in time. Grieve for it is necessary and healthy, but when the grief has subsided you will realize this is not how he would want you to feel. He will be with you everyday for the rest of your life. My daddy is still with me in spirit. I feel his strength and assurance in my heart and soul.

Love,
Rita

You have every right to feel the way you do. You've lost a loved one and that takes a great toll on your emotions. You are in grief and feel so alone. Although I have never lost a loved one so close to my heart, I can only imagine what you are going through. All I can say is continue to have faith in God, he will pull you through this difficult time. Prayers will be your solace. As for the poem, it tugged on my heartstrings. The words held plenty of emotion. I truly hope you will get better.

These words are so accurate for so many people, particularly the redefining who I am because I'm nothing without him, the inability to move on and leave that life behind, not being able to end your own life, feeling like life is pointless because HE's gone for good. Wow the list goes on forever. Thanks for pinpointing why we feel so depressed after a breakup (or worse). Very very true.

Do NOT regret posting this anger and frustration and grief! Jenna, even the biblical prophets shouted with anger and laments to God! It is healthy, as long as it is come to terms with and expressed, as you seem to do so eloquently! I hope, now that you have come past this (I am reading your prose late in the game, I'm afraid) you know you have nothing to regret - you are conquering the grief process PERFECTLY! Your strength is awesome!!
