Pretty Joni

Contributed by greasefire on Friday, 2nd July 2004 @ 02:08:19 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

Dear Joni, young like me
but full of solemn wisdom
I feel like your best friend
Everyone feels the same
Is it you, or your words I want
Maybe just your soul
The only soul like mine

You’re the kiddos on the slide
And the old men playing chess
Always satisfied with longing
You want only right now
You will never be more beautiful

I can never be you, but I want to
Even though I know it must hurt
You’re happy with your pain
Like I can’t be with my pleasure

You’re abandoned on the road
The road you never meant to take
And yet you have the map
No surprise awaits but darkness

I hold you to help with the pain
And wait for it to come again
Right now there’s deepest joy
All the brighter for the sorrow

You’re the happiest girl around
Folks gather round like pigeons
To warm their hands in you
The light is yours at your command
And it radiates through me

You’ve already felt and loved
Everything I ever will

Oh I just had to comment on this ...for obvious reasons. This sounds so much like me I'd swear it was written for me, but then again, us Joni's must be alike in many ways.
Very nice write!
Angel always...godspeed...joni~

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
