You stand there, leering at me
From your side of this wall that separates us-
Composed of tears – yours and mine
And just strong enough to keep us at arms length.
Your cloud, bursting with bitterness and disbelief,
With a downpour that scalds from envy, desires revenge.
My cloud, far from angelic, but calmer still,
Compact with disappointments and chaste choices.
Our showers hurt over the way things were,
and the way things are now.
