Get Well Card

A Get well sits on my shadow box,
A man in agony on the cover,
His twisted leg on the brink of snapping,
The perfect anecdote for a fractured finger,
But not so for a fractured heart.
Agony is now mine.
My Sanity on the brink of snapping.
Rejection yet again.
If only you'd just drop me a line or two
My finger healed long ago,
Your memory on the card is the only remaining pain,
Your voice just dissipated as you left me behind
A painful silence fell between us, Why?
I need another get well card,
As I seem to have lost a friend
