Close your eyes.
Long brown hair
Blindfold yourself.
Soft, pale skin covered in tiny hairs
Take my hand.
Painted red nails
Watch your step.
Brown leather shoes to make her taller
Now we go
A black shirt, holding five buttons and five button-holes
Into the woods.
Large loose pants, lots of cloth, like a drapery
There’s a tree.
Black jacket, also big
Here’s a hill.
Gentle grip, she smells of fruit
Here we are.
Subtle hips, like a virgin
Have a seat.
Breasts dying to be suckled
You can look now.
Perfectly blue eyes
Do you like it?
Soft, green grass
You know this place.
Songbirds and foxes
This is where you were born.
Snow owls and clover
This is where we met, in a dream
A tree stump and mild sunlight
This is where we first made love.
A quite breeze and gentle stream
This is where our daughter will be born too,
A babe in the heather
A babe in the heather.
