Wake Up Call

Contributed by WoodyMc44 on Tuesday, 29th June 2004 @ 02:59:27 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

He looks at life, the sun and stars
And thinks they just appeared.
The rainbow and the moon afar
Just something that is here.

The taste of love, a baby’s sigh,
Just things of life but then.
There is no presence from on high,
“Its nothing” just the wind.

My thought is that he must not care
For others, life and love
When all that’s given him to share
He doubts the one above.

I wonder if his life is full,
Can he understand true love?
Does he live in fear at all,
Did his children just evolve?

Even the non-believer
As he takes his final nod,
In his final breath of life
He whispers “oh my God”

Was it just a final phrase?
No hope for him to be?
His journey past to be erased,
Or in death his God he sees.

Look around just one more time
If there’s any doubt at all,
Would you reconsider what you find?
or the end be your “wakeup call?”
