Peaceful lake
No movement
Still
How she longs to swim
In gentle waters
Resistance difficult
She knows it is impossible
Just a toe
One toe
No
She can't
Just one toe
Ripples forming at her touch
Stilling around warm flesh
No difference between water and air.
She doesn't deserve it
Doesn't deserve him.
How she longs to swim
To immerse herself in him until
She breaks the surface
Gasping for air
To sink softly back down.
No
She can't
He deserves better.
He's so gentle
So sweet
She just sits
Watching
(Just one?)
(Please?)
Sweet yearning
Her love holds her back.
(Oh, how she wants to swim!)
Comforting darkness
Her light shines
Electrifying
Ripples turn into waves
He shivers at her touch
He reaches
High as possible
Falls back
Defeated
No
He must have her
(No! You deserve better)
Again he reaches
How he loves her.
And then
The sun's scathing power
Drives her back
And for a moment
Longer than any eternity
They touch.
And in the next second
She is gone
Underneath the cold horizon.
All day they wait
For the night.
So that again she will rise
And they will share the hardships of love.
A frothing pit of agony
A battle for resistance.
Gentle light
Gentle waves
Sweet love.

If you would've put something about giving him up so that he could have a better life, and be happier without her, you would've had my life with my former... absolutely pegged. This was a great write! I liked looking at love from a whole new perspective... loved it.
