Look; what do you see?
A land once loved, green and fair, lies scorched and barren.
(Never to return to beauty; no, beauty is gone)
Boiling blood drowns once crowded streets.
(Never walked again; no, the feet are stopped)
Once clear streams are stilled, stagnant in their filth.
(Never to flow again; no, they are choked)
Tall strong trees are gone and dead.
(Never to grow again; no, no chance to return)
Gentle beasts have fled or died in fruitless struggle.
(Never to grow again; no, no more life)
All actors have left the stage.
(Never to fret again; no, the play is over)
No more tears, no more laughter, no more love.
Nothing, Nothing, Nothing

I enjoyed this poem but I don't know where you get Eliot from it. My advise, just do your own work and don't try to copy others. I still like it though. You are extremely talented. |
