A Lament for Reagan

Contributed by scott on Sunday, 27th June 2004 @ 03:35:25 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The rythym of your heart has ceased
God willing now, you rest in peace.
O Heart of Hearts! O tortured Soul!
To walk for 9 years down death’s row!

And when it came your time to pass
You opened your long-dead-eyes at last
O Recognition! Sweet Recognition!
That destroyed the mind-rot’s prohibition!

Twas’ you tore down the cursed wall!
Twas’ you who showed the way to all!
Oh indiscretion! Praise the indiscretion!
Of the hammers that shattered the oppression!

Twas’ you who for our benefit
Poured forth all of your charm and wit
O Dawn! O Dawn! O hope-filled dawn!
Return his smile from the beyond!

You blessed the city on the hill
In death She shines upon you still!
O disperse! Yon damned dream! Disperse!
Tis’ a dream I view your flag-draped hearse!

Gone is the presence we enjoyed!
Who can step up to fill the void?
O gloom! O gloom! Disperse the gloom!
Rise up from your fresh-sealed tomb!!

And should the Good Lord have his way
We shall all see thee again one day
O tears! O tears! Behold the tears!
You leave this earth a darkened sphere!

The rythym of your heart has ceased
God willing now, you rest in peace.
We lament thee! We who do not know
The pain of walking 9 years down death’s row!
